__ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION\\ OF\\ MU BETA PSI, HONORARY MUSICAL FRATERNITY__

The undersigned, being of the age of eighteen (18) years or more, do hereby make and acknowledge these [[wp>Articles of Incorporation]] for the purpose of forming a [[wp>Nonprofit corporation|nonprofit corporation]] under and by virtue of the laws of the State of North Carolina.
  - The name of the corporation is Mu Beta Psi, Honorary Musical Fraternity.
  - The period of duration of the corporation shall be perpetual.
  - The purposes for which the corporation is organized are:
    - To honor those outstanding men and women who have devoted their time and efforts to the musical organizations at the institutions of the respective chapters.
    - To stimulate interest in musical organizations and fellowship among musicians.
    - To advance the cultural and educational values of music.
     - To engage in any lawful act or activity for which nonprofit corporations may be organized under [[http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascripts/statutes/statutelookup.pl?statute=55a|Chapter 55A of the General Statutes of North Carolina]].
  - The corporation shall have members which may be divided into such classes as shall be provided in the by-laws. All members shall be accepted, appointed, elected or designated in the manner provided in the by-laws.
  - The directors of the corporation shall be elected or appointed in the manner and for the terms provided in the by-laws.
  - No part of the net earnings of the corporation shall insure to the benefit of any officer, director or member of the corporation; and upon dissolution of the corporation the assets thereof shall, after all of its liabilities and obligations have been discharged or adequate provision made therefor, be distributed to any association or associations organized for purposes similar to those set forth in Article 3 hereinabove, all as more particularly provided in the by-laws of the corporation.
